I DROVE TOWARD THE MOON

I drove toward the moon
Last night
Like any other nigh
Twenty minute ride
I drove toward the moon
Thinking I shall be home soon
But something caught my eye.

Tall branches of tall trees
Up high
Kept reaching, couldn’t reach
The darkness of the sky
The shadows – wild and free
Moonlight set them loose, must be
And so it did to me.

What’s the meaning of what I see?
Is it truly special or is it me..
Imagining at night?!
In the back of my head I fear
Moment I step out it’ll disappear..
Keep driving toward the light.

So I kept going straight
Nowhere
Allowing sister fate
To tell me I don’t dare
You see, if I’m afraid
To reach out and touch the great
I think it’s only fair.
